Trencin – M.A. Bazovsky Gallery

The Gallery of Milos Alexander Bazovsky in Trencin is advantageously situated in the centre of Povazie and it arose in 1969, it is an interesting centre by its geography and culture. It bears its name after the Natlonal Artist M. A. Bazovsky (1899 – 1968), an outstanding Slovak painter living the last years of his withering and varied Iife in Trencin (1962 – 68). Architecturally imposing spaces from the Baroque Piorist monastery have become the seat of gallery (1653 – 57). They have been reconstructed and brought into contemporaneous shape in the year 1973 – 1979. The orientation towards visual arts of 20 th century has been clear at the beginning of this gallery not only in regional, but also in worldwide connections.
