Bratislava – Music Museum
The Museum was set up early in 1991. The Music Museum collects and processes musical sources that document the history of music in Slovakia from earliest times up to the present: musical writings, musical instruments, sound recordings of musical compositions, correspondence, original photographs and documents on the work of prominent musical personalities and institutions, but also works of art related to music, e.g. medals, plaquets, badges, statues or drawings with motifs of music. The settings up of a musical department within the SNM was anticipated by the activity of J.Šimko-Juhász who in 1955–1958, gathered here several musical instruments and musical works. The Music Museum takes contact with the results of work and activity of the Musical Department whose workplaces and depositary are on the 3rd floor of the Bratislava castle and at Dolna Krupa.
