Bratislava – Museum of Transport

The museum of transport was opened in June 1999 as a branch of the Slovak Technical Museum in Košice. It is situated in a storehouse and a railway store near the Bratislava Steam Railway Station. The museum shows exhibits collected for 70 years, showing machineries, history and development of road and railway transport. The museum is situated in a building after the Management of the Slovak Railway Police between Predstaničné namestie and Prazska street. The entrance is from a bridge for pedestrians over Sancova street or from the corner of Sancova street and Prazska street. The development of road transport is shown as a wide collection of exhibits starting with coaches, firs engine carriages, through motorcycles, cars and lorries of the period between the wars up to cars from the 70's. The oldest exhibit is Praga from 1911 owned by Mr Prihoda from Prague. There is also a collection of BMW cars and unique motorcycles Bohmerland. The railway transport is shown by freight carriages of the 19th-20th century, steam engines and steam crane situated on the railway track in front of the stores. The exposition is seasonally enlarged by exhibits owned by the Slovak State Railways.
