Kralova pri Senci – Bee – keeping Museum in Slovakia
The Bee – keeping Museum in Slovakia started to collects in 1975, on the initiative of R.Mičieta, author of the first history of apiculture in Slovakia. The museum collects documents relating to the development of apiculture and its utilization by man.
Expositions:
- The exhibition, installed on the premises of the „Apicultural Glade“ set up in 1930, has unique collections of bee-hives – wooden and straw hives as used in the 17th century, box-like hives of diverse types from the 18th century whose greatest propagator in Slovakia was Juraj Fándly. A special group in the development of hives is that of relief and figural hives. The open-air exhibition is rounded off with further types of hives used in apiculture from the 19th century to the present times. Inside the great apiary we find honey-extractors, – strainers, presses for honeycomb-walls, beekeepers' implements and requisites from various periods and relevant literature, as also products from this industry.
