MPC Kremnica - Exposition of Skiing
Kremnica

More information about "MPC Kremnica - Exposition of Skiing" on Muzeum.sk

This exposition was opened on the 12th of February 2000 on the 26th anniversary of the mentioned race of skis – White Foot of the Slovak National Uprising.
The beginnings and the origin of skis are strictly connected with the oldest traces of human existence. They come from the late Stone Age and have been known for more than 5000 years. The oldest ski dates back to the year 1450 B.C. and was found in Hoting, Sweden. We will never find out when the firs ski was used on the hills that surround Kremnica, but the first competition of skiing in Austro-Hungary took place on Kremnica hills. Since then Kremnica has been an important place for all skiing disciplines – racing, descending, and jumping. At present it is famous for its excellent racing routes, persistence competition facilities as well as European races /EUROLOPETT/ as for example White Foot of the Slovak National Uprising.
