Kremnica – Museum of Coins and Medals
The Museum at Kremnica was founded in 1890 by the town's archivist Pavol Križko. It functioned as homeland museum, but right from its beginnings was oriented to building up a collection of coins and medals. In 1976 it was given the name Museum of Coins and Medals and the statute of a specialized institution for documenting the activity of the Kremnica mint, operating in the town uninteruptedly since 1329. The Museum has exhibitions installed in several historical buildings that are part of the town's monument reserve. Since 1994 it falls under the competence of the National Bank of Slovakia.
