More information about "Pezinok - Little - Carpathian Museum" on Muzeum.sk

The Little Carpathian Museum was established in 1960 as a Municipal Museum (before1982 it was called the Little – Carpathian Viticultural Museum). The collection is based upon the remains of a collection by pharmacist Rantišek von Meissle at the turn 19th and 20th century. From it's beginning, the Museum gathered mainly historical and ethnographic (particularly viticultural) collections, documents on famous personalities from Pezinok and the works of fine artists. The museum is located in a two-story burgher house with a U-shaped ground plan, built in the first half of the 17th century. This museum also administers the native house of the great artist Ján Kupecký, in which exhibitions of works by artists from this region are displayed.
