The first museum collection in an extensive town of Stara Tura was opened in 1976 in a past Roman-Catholic school. In 1989 it became the Municipal Museum. During present reconstruction, the museum sits in castle rooms. The museum presents history of the town. A significant part is devoted to a voluntary expedition and a battle next to Stará Turá from the years 1848–49. Town privileges, documents about development of guilds and trade especially production of wooden goods are presented here. You can also learn about a school of sculpturing between 1919 and 1926, and works of its students and, among others, of a national artist Frano Stefunko.
