The iniciator and owner of the building was Jan Hlinka, the brother of Andrej Hlinka (preacher, famous statesman and figter for the rights of the Slovak nation). The building was preserved in its original state from the beginning until 2002. Only in 2002 the large and complex reconstruction of the building and its surroundings began. The house its with its advantageous location in the historic part of the village of Cernova ideal for relax in the mountaineous countryside of Lower Liptov. The idea to create a complex touristic centre was supported by the beautiful natural resources and cultural historical monuments that could be found in this region. After three years of reconstruction the old manor house gains a new life and opens its gates on Monday December 27 2004. We hope that our facility will fulfil the highest expectations of our guests.

The new guest house is only 700 metres far from the main road from Kosice to Zilina in the village of Cernova which is part of Ruzomberok. It is situated in the oldest street of the village. With its traditional architecture it fits perfectly to the overall historic design of the street built mostly with the wooden houses. The house is in the neighbourhood of the house of the preacher Andrej Hlinka where his memorial exposition was only recently opened.

Ruzomberok-Cernova offers inexhaustible resources of relax and free time activities for everyone during the whole year. The famous ski centre Skipark Ruzomberok is only 3 km far. It provides for excellent conditions for all kinds of winter sports. There is also the longest ski traverse with artificial snow. The brand new teleferic for eight persons takes you to the heart of the ski centre. It is in the yearlong run. There are also many ski lifts and one teleferic for four persons in the ski centre. We recommend you to visit also other centres such as Jasna (30 km), Donovaly (30 km), Zuberec (20 km). The Liptov region was recently enriched by many attractive leisure and balneo-centres such as the thermal swimming-pool Besenova opened the whole year (10 km), the biggest aquapark in Slovakia and Czech republic Tatralandia (30 km), LuCky spa (9 km). There is a possibility to visit many historical cultural monuments, one of the most famous is for example Vlkolinec (10 km), the village in the heart of the unspoiled nature. This vilage is part of the international heritage of UNESCO so you should certainly visit it. In the surroundings of the guest house (cca 30 km) you can find three museums of Slovak traditional architecture (Pribylina, Zuberec, Martin). Oravsky castle opened for the puiblic is only 25 km North of Ruzomberok. It is a dominant monument of the neighbourhood region of Orava.

Many tourists find Ruzomberok very attractive with its location. It is a starting point of many favourite touristic paths where you can meet a number of natural peculiarities (Choc, Chopok, Prosiecka valley, ruined castle Likava, Rozsutec, . . .). Demanovska valley (only 30 km far from the guest house) is well known touristic centre attractive during the whole year. It offers excellent conditions for various kinds of summer and winter sports or visit of the most famous caves of Liptov Demanovska jaskyna Slobody and Demanovska ladova jaskyna. To the tourists who look for more challenge we recommend the mount on the top of Krivan (50 km) which is the symbolic mountain of the Slovak nation (High Tatras 55 km).
